STERHUIS - A little closer to the stars, a lot closer to perfection.
Hugging the lofty slopes of the Bottelary Hills, caressed by crisp ocean breezes from both the Atlantic and Indian, our vineyards are indeed touched by the stars.
For here, in the deep, coffee-coloured soils, grapes of stellar quality are grown. The unusually cool microclimate allows the fruit to develop unhurriedly, gradually ripening to full intensity.
So full of character and rich in nuances are these grapes, that precious little human intervention is required to transform them into wines worthy of our name.
This allows winemaker Johan Kruger, to put his minimalistic, natural approach to work,
producing wines of exceptional personality and charming honesty.
Sophisticated viticultural techniques, a hands-on vineyard management style and much applauded winemaking skills complement nature's gracious gifts of high altitude, favourable soils and conducive climate.
The resultant wines are the true expression of cultivar, terroir and vintage - in perfect harmony.

Sterhuis Chardonnay 2007
Bottelary (Stellenbosch), South Africa
Dry White (Cork), 14.5% abv
Very nutty aromas. The palate is full of flavour - peachy and nutty with some good lactic notes, depth and long, tapering, richly flavoured finished.
Very good, powerful Chardonnay with well-judged oak.
